Leadership Realities:
Reality #1 - Senior leaders often plateau with regard to their interpersonal and communication skills as their increasing authority makes it less and less likely anyone will give them the feedback they need.
Reality #2 Their responsibilities are so large they feel they no longer can invest the time they had in the past to continually sharpen their leadership tools. Common thinking Come on, if I had any real challenges would they have made me a Senior Vice President?
Reality #3 In my coaching experience a third of the leaders I coach are completely unaware of key behaviors and patterns that are causing them to begin to derail or create unnecessary friction. The other two thirds can identify but vastly underestimate the negative impacts of their behaviors.
My most common role is to help provide an accurate mirror for the leader, helping them be clearer than ever before about the patterns that best serve and most hinder them. Then I work with them to develop and cement new responses and approaches that vastly improve their effectiveness. The purpose of my work to leave them able to more accurately access their leadership impacts and self correct as necessary on an ongoing basis.
I provide feedback in a way that ensures the executive hears it, owns it and decides they can be even more effective by adopting new approaches.
Why this work matters
engagement drives results.
Leadership excellence occurs when leaders engage and inspire others in addition to demonstrating their business acumen. I have extensive experience working with executives to help them do just this by becoming more authentic, trustworthy and engaging in their day to day communications and interactions.
My work and my passion is leadership and workplace communication and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to explore both in my role as coach, facilitator and speaker. I typically work with senior and executive level leaders in large corporations throughout the world with an emphasis on firms in the technology and financial services arenas. I maintain a commitment to do some work each year with a few non-profits and private individuals.
